I know for me, It is sometimes difficult to find time to do what I enjoy doing most which is designing, posting blog post and creating YouTube videos. So, today I wanted to create a little post about how to keep your blog going, stay productive, and have content to share. These are some of the things that help me keep my blog running and help me create post. Let me tell you, It is not easy to find the time to post or create videos, when you work all day or are in school. For me, work consumes most of my time and I don't like not being able to post, but I make the time for something that I really enjoy doing. Here are my tips and tricks on how to stay productive.
1. Research
Once you have found the time to post or create a video, now it is time to decide what to post or film about. This is really hard especially if you know you want to create content, but don't know what to do it on. I know for me, it is very stressful when I have no ideas for good content and I haven't posted in a week. I like to post at least once a week, and having no ideas, is no good. So I do some research. What are the things that interest you at the moment? How can you take someones idea and make it your own original content?
To answer these questions, I turn to the best resource around. The internet. If you are already on it, use it. I love finding new ideas through different Bloggers and YouTubers. What are they doing? What is something that everyone likes to see/read? What is trending? All of those things. Getting inspiration from others can spark a new idea and help you create the content you want to create. Don't be afraid of bouncing off someone's idea, but remember to keep it original. No one likes to see the same thing twice from different people. If you like someone's idea, change it up, add new things, add a twist and make it yours.
When trying to create new content, the best way to start is to have a plan. Any content or post that is planned, turns out a lot better than any content that has not been thought out. This to me is my favorite part when wanting to create. I love to sit down with my planner and write all my ideas down, days I can create them on, what days I will post them up or upload on. Just having a schedule for my posts to make my blog and channel consistent. I created my own little planner that helps me with every part of the process. The things I need to plan the most and every detail that goes into planning a video or post is in my little homemade planner. Not all the planners out there have the same little sections that I need, so I created my own. This one keeps me on the right track and it was fun to make as well. If you don't have a planner and don't want to buy it, make it! I made mine and not only was it fun, but I was able to make it just how I wanted to with all of the questions and areas I wanted to have in order to make my planning a bit more organized and efficient.
3. Pre-Schedule Posts
One of the things that I like to do is Pre Schedule my post or pre-plan them. I create a post when I am not busy, then schedule them to go live whenever I want them to. By doing this, I can create a couple of post one day, and schedule them to go live at different times or days. That way I will have posts to publish and keep my blog running instead of doing a post anytime I have free time, because you can never be sure when that will be. By doing this, I can spend the free time that I have creating multiple posts in one day that can go live on multiple days. I do the same thing with my YouTube Videos. If I know that I won't be able to film in the days to come, I take one day to film as many videos as possible and upload them on different days. I know a lot of YouTubers that do this and It is a great way to have new content constantly on your channel. Pre-Scheduling is a great way to make your blog seem active all the time.
4. All or Nothing
I love blogging and making YouTube videos and I film a lot of videos. I even make the same videos more than once. When it comes to my YouTube, I am a perfectionist. If I watch my videos back and don't like them, I don't upload them. I want to create content that I am happy with and post things that I find are good enough. In the past, I would just create a post just to create a post, but I found that no only was I just "forcing" content, but that there was no engagement. Posts and videos that I spent more time with, planned out more, and just structured better where the ones that people seem to enjoy more and that is an awesome thing. If you are not happy with what you have created, don't post it. Post something that you are content with and that you have worked hard or long to post. Hard work pays off. Working hard and loving what you do is key. If you don't like what you do, do something about it. If this is what you want to do, work hard at it and make it the best that you can possibly make it. Not only will this make you want to keep creating, but it will make for a happy you and a happy blog.
